Our Workshops
Welcome to Speedy Strings!
We are an exciting new business introducing children age 6-11 to stringed instruments in a fun and low pressure environment through short 4 day workshops
All our workshops last for 1.5 hours and take place over 4 mornings. We provide the instruments so you don't have to and your child can take it home over the workshop days to practice if they wish! We begin with exciting and interactive live music played by our tutors. Then we cover the following during each session:
Play music games
Techniques taken from Dalcrose involving expressing emotion through movement plus call and response games and dancing in time!
Learn the basics of rhythm and notation
Everyone can learn simple rhythms and how to read them! We also aim to learn string names and how to recognise notes on a stave with some fun songs and rhymes.
Play an instrument
Children will learn how to hold and pluck their instrument. We can even learn the basics to a bow hold and finger placement!
